I am Michelle Goldman, and I have been a teacher at Dillard Drive Middle for 11 years.  I have a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from Fontbonne College in St. Louis, Missouri.  I have a Master's degree from North Carolina State University in Middle Grades Education.   I have loved being a Language Arts instructor because I have learned a great deal about reading, writing and young people.  The curriculum in grade 8 is especially fascinating to me.  We explore Annie Sullivan's struggle with Helen Keller.  We examine Anne Franks's struggle to survive during WWII and the Holocaust.  The short stories that we read and discuss are fascinating works by Edgar Allan Poe, Langston Hughes and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.   Each spring, we enter the world of fairies and love potion with A Midsummer Night's Dream.  The themes we explore are varied, and there is room for all of the students to connect and become engage.
